Are you suffering from aches and pain?
Cannabis rub provides relief from sore muscles and pain.
The Cannabis industry continues to create innovative Cannabis-infused or CBD products to help relieve body pains. One of the best cannabis products that helps aid in relieving muscle and joint pain fast is through CBD infused balms.
Cannabis topical balms can come as a salve, a cream, or an oil. They are applied to the skin, and provide localized relief for joint and muscle pain. This pain may be caused by damaged nerve endings, arthritis, inflammation, general soreness, or many other conditions. CBD topical balms provide pain relief without creating a sense of being high or intoxicated.
CBD infused balms are absorbed through the skin and bind to CB2 receptors, which are found throughout the body, thanks to the Endocannabinoid system. Once it is encountered with these CB2 receptors, CBD has a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect on the body. The body increases the number of cannabinoid receptors present in muscle tissues that are injured or inflamed.
CBD is a natural and organic alternative to pharmaceutical medications that generally have dangerous side effects. CBD infused balms, on the other hand, begin working the instant you rub it on your skin without any side effects.
Cannabis balms help with sore muscles, back pain, arthritis, and many other aches and pains. Many marijuana topical rub sold today carry some of the same ingredients found within drugstore muscle creams such as eucalyptus, camphor, menthol, and more. However, many CBD rubs smell like cannabis and they can often feel greasy because of their carrier oils.
As state laws allowing the use of medical marijuana continue to relax like the crowd at a Phish show, places like Colorado, Washington, and California are making products unlike anything the world has ever seen. There are vape pens that double as design objects. Yes, they exist even if you can’t buy them outside Oregon.
According to Ah Warner, founder of Washington–based body-care line Cannabis Basics and an activist for the industry, there are hundreds more of compounds, each with unique healing properties in CBD products. CBD is anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, analgesic, cell-regenerative, and anti–cell proliferative for bad cells.
While many of us are familiar with cannabidiol’s benefits when consumed, it also has many potential benefits when used topically in a cream, ointment or salve. Cannabidiol oils and vape products continue to be more popular than topical options, but this difference is likely because of lack of public knowledge. Many recent studies are demonstrating just how beneficial CBD ointments can be for relieving muscle pain, soreness, and tightness.
On top of these studies, there is a long history of topical cannabis use within plant-based traditional medicines. Indications of cannabis-based creams and salves being used from ancient Egypt to ancient China. It is believed these preparations were used not just for pain relief, but also to treat skin irritations, inflammations, and wounds.
Why Use Topical CBD?
Cannabidiol has the potential to replace many over-the-counter ointments and creams for pain relief. Usually, these ingredients are all unpronounceable and unknown to the patient using the product. A well-sourced cannabidiol ointment only contains all natural ingredients, which all should be recognizable and much more environmentally friendly than those creams sold in pharmacies. Even though CBD creams do not contain harsh chemicals, they offer a similar level of relief.
Most common use of CBD topical balms and creams always has been for pain relief, which isn’t surprising considering CBD’s current track record in the area. CBD is famous for pain relief. While other cannabinoids are less absorbable through the epidermis or the skin’s top layer, CBD is much more infusing, making it an excellent choice for topical applications. Unlike when consumed, CBD doesn’t enter the bloodstream when used topically, since it only can permeate through to the skin’s top layer, to roughly a centimeter or 2.54 inches deep.
According to a recent study, cannabinoids such as CBD have been found to effectively treat acute and chronic pain when applied topically. Researchers believe this is because CBD reduce the ability to feel pain through the activation of CB1 and CB2 receptors within the endocannabinoid system. Researchers also discovered that topical applications of CBD were able to reduce inflammatory and neuropathic pain in animal models.
Many studies found preliminary evidence supporting the use of topical cannabinoid creams for treating pain related to multiple sclerosis, arthritis, and inflammation. Cannabidiol already has been proven an effective anti-inflammatory agent when consumed, so the potential to provide relief through topical applications is very promising. In many cases of pain caused by inflammation, for example with athletes and arthritis patients, prefer topical solutions because they provide progressive delivery of pain relief without any side effects often associated with long term use of traditional pain medications.
Beyond pain relief, many people have self-prescribed topical CBD for a wide range of condition. These applications remain to be tested through rigorous clinical trials, but are still being used by many people seeking relief when other medications failed. Some of these uses include stimulation of healing for minor wounds, cuts, and abrasions, soothing of skin irritations such as rashes, eczema, psoriasis and dry skin, treatment of nerve pain, help with hemorrhoids, and soothing joint pain caused by injury, arthritis, and more.
How to Use Topical CBD
As with all cannabinoid products sold on the market today, dosage and application guidelines will vary depending on what brand and what product you are using. Remember to refer to the product-specific guidelines to ensure proper usage. With that rule in mind, there are some points to consider when using topical CBD products for the first time.
While CBD has been found to be safe to use and extremely compatible with all skin types and people, including both the young and the old, it’s always a good idea to test a small amount of any new cream on the underside of your wrist. CBD creams were not created equal, and some can contain additional medicinal ingredients or scents that could lead to adverse reactions.
The underside of your wrist is too sensitive to indicate potential response without triggering a significant painful irritation. To test, simply rub a small pea-sized amount of the topical CBD ointment, cream or balm onto the underside of your wrist. Wait for at least eight hours before confirming that no reaction has occurred before you proceed on using it on other areas of your body.
Another thing to remember is the considerable difference in skin tone and texture, and between the young and the old. Naturally, both seniors and children have much thinner skin than adults and usually topical treatments absorb quite quickly. Because of this dermatological difference, they also may prove to be slightly more susceptible to skin irritation. Again, it’s highly recommended to test first before full treatment.
It is also recommended to apply these less liberally than you would for an adult because a child or a senior will absorb a higher percentage of the active ingredients. When it comes to treatment of adults, many topical ointments recommend a liberal application, especially when using for pain relief.
Finally, like all topical medicine therapies, always rub the CBD cream onto the skin thoroughly and allow the area to dry first before covering it with anything. Not only will it ensure that none of the cream goes to waste, but it also will keep your clothing free from oil or cream stains. After application, it may take up to two days to notice any results. However, reapplication after a few hours is completely safe.
